Do I Need Same-Day Treatment?

Wondering if you or your child’s dental issue constitutes as an emergency? Here are some of the most common problems that often require urgent, same-day dental care:
  • Abscess (Bump) on Gums
  • Brocken, Chipped, or Cracked Tooth
  • Knocked-Out Adult Tooth
  • Sudden Jaw Pain
  • Throbbing or Persistent Toothache

What Do I Do in a Dental Emergency?

We understand that when you experience a dental trauma like a broken or knocked-out tooth, it can be a stressful situation. One of the first things we recommend is to call our office immediately. This will let us know what’s going on so that we can be prepared when you come in. We can also advise you on any steps you should take before you get to our office.

Knocked-Out Permanent Tooth

If a permanent tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown and gently rinse off any debris. If possible, place the tooth back into its socket and bite down softly on a piece of gauze to keep it in place. If you can’t put it back in, put the tooth in a glass of milk to transport it with you to the office.

Throbbing Tooth Pain

For persistent tooth pain from dental trauma or an unknown source, please call our office right away. Our team will get you in for a same-day appointment so that we can assess the problem and help you get the relief you deserve. If needed, you can take the recommended dose of an over-the-counter pain reliever to ease the discomfort while you’re on your way to our office.

Sedation Dentistry

When a child is scared and confused, it can be difficult to keep them calm and still while they are receiving emergency dental treatment. You always want your kids to feel as comfortable as possible while sitting in the dental chair, and so do we! That’s why Growing Smiles offers dental sedation options that are both safe and effective for children. If you are interested in learning more about how dental sedation can help you or your child have better dental experiences, feel free to get in touch with our front office team or visit our sedation page.
